~ Well Not So Much ~ and Baby It's Not That Cold Outside ~
~ And Not Such a Busy Sunday ~
Nope, not much going on... Chat as usual, Up to Kick's 66 for a DUD Bingo and Crossword... Back to the ranch to get BORED... So.. up to the ATM for a couple Twenties and off to the Casino.. Well I haven't been there for at least three weeks.. And I shudda skipped this trip.. Darn...
Back to the ranch for more bored times... Wish we could skip Sundays... More chat on IM with Can the Man... NO COOKING... Later did a re-run on that roast beef and veggies.. and added a serving of braised cabbage... Not bad... That was about it for the day...
So this morning... Nice Kitchen chat again with Can and Beamer and Kay dropped in for a few minutes... And that woodhead skier idiot then another gal from Australia and that was the morning until clean-up... Now this BLOG.. about NOTHING.. Except a little bit of new snow... and next... up to the Price Chopper for some soap and stuff... Should I try another Bingo? Then back to the ranch to see if my Camera shows up, maybe Can's check in the mail this afternoon... Oh yeah, maybe a BBQ rib and some oven roasted taters this afternoon...
What a Busy Day! all Day! Started early writing my BLOG... Then people came in the Kitchen Chat to interrupt but I kept at it now and then... Chat finished I got ready for the Day and headed up to Kicks 66 to cash in my $16 win and get a Bingo and Crossword... Back by the Price Chopper for Butter, buttermilk (for the bread) and Cool Whip (for the apple pie)
Back to the Ranch for that piece of pie, worked a loser Bingo and Crossword and then burn a couple DVD copies for the Sanctuary people and print case labels for the DVDs... Then Can showed up on IM and after a bit, saying he was going downstairs for the mail.. Came back up with his new camera and here came the questions and then the sample pictures... He sent me some and later I put them on my BLOG Addendum (as below)..
Somewhere in there I got the idea that a chuck roast would be nice for dinner.. So back to the Chopper to see what was what... Got some carrots, celery and a cabbage... Checked out a sale on chuck arm roast, chose a nice one... Rather have a boneless Chuck roast but none available.. How come? Then found a gallon of Musselman's Cider pressed from fresh apples, not concentrate... And back to the ranch...
I got that roast prepped, browned and into my small Pyrex dish over sliced onions and some garlic and into the oven... Then peeled potatoes and carrots, chopped them up along with some celery to wait for the roast... Then a glass of wine and some TV... Back to take the roast out, put the veggies in the beef juice and back in the oven...
Next mixed up the Irish soda bread, set it aside and then went to write up a BLOG, showing Can's first pics... Then, back to the kitchen to take out the veggies and in with the bread... And another glass of wine to catch up on the TV...
And then...... Sliced up some beef, ladled on the veggies and wasn't that a Dish... to Set Before the King! Oh yes, Perfect end to a busy busy... and busy day!
~ Now... On to Monday... I Can't Wait! ~

So... No snow here today... Can is getting it all in Washington D.C. So I will let Dean sing to him... And I was in Kitchen Chat when Can went down to check the mail and came back saying he has his new Camera... So he unpacked it and began trying it out... Asking all kinds of questions... Hey... some of us actually read the instruction manual! Anyway he managed to shoot a dozen and more pics and sent them to me. and here are a few... Man Ain't technology great?
So, On the food front... Trying to think what excuse I could have to go to the Price Chopper? Hey, what about a nice little chuck roast for dinner? And they did have a chuck arm roast on a nice sale... got me a nice small one and some carrots and a cabbage... And I wanted some kind of drink and I found a gallon of Musselman's Genuine 100% cider from fresh apples .. not concentrate... I have that cooling to try later... And the roast has been browned in my cast iron skillet, placed on a layer of sliced onions and garlic and roasting away in the oven... Later take that out and roast some potatoes and carrots in the beef and onion juice.. Ah yes...
And I put a stick of butter out to soften, will get out there in a bit and whup up me some more of that Irish soda bread.. the last try turned out Great! Maybe I can get it baking while I roast the taters and carrots... Oh Man what a life I lead here alone... all by myself.. never a thing going on... is there?... Oh well...
~ Now... to Finish Up another Wonderful Day! ~

~ A Little More Snow ~
~ But Ain't That Purty? ~
Snow... Snow... more Snow... It snowed most all day yesterday... Big flakes... and if it had been a little colder we might have got some accumulation... As it stayed right above freezing all day, we did not get that... The major storm just skirted Kansas City to the South and East and the most I saw on top of my Blazer was only about 1/4 inch and the streets pretty well stayed clear... But before noon it pretty well hung in the trees in the gully and made a pretty winter picture...
But Can the Man was griping early in the day about all the snow they were getting... or were going to get... Here we can handle some snow but a couple inches in D.C. runs them into a panic... I saw TV there before noon and it didnn't look bad to me.. and they let all the Government flunkies go home at 1:00 p.m.
Speaking of Can... (were we?) I was in chat and told him to look at the soup pic I just put on my page... And he says "Tell me... How did you take that pic?"... I was supposed to have sent him my Kodak and he was thinking maybe I didn't... BUT! I took that photo with my Video Camera, it does a fair job.. and in wide screen at that.. Like these today.. Those are a couple I snapped with my HD Video cam...
The Camera I sent him is a still digital camera.. but will also take Video in Quick Time... And my video camera is primarily an HD Video cam, but also will take passable stills... BUT.. I am still on the lookout for that New Canon SLR.. ANY DAY! And Can the Man is waiting for my Kodak DX7590 to show up... But I sent it Pony Express, might take a while...
And oh yeah.. Won a $6 and $10 scratcher yesterday.. Still AHEAD for the month!
Well, No, it isn't Grandma's chicken noodle... she made her own noodles and killed her own chickens... and I helped pluck the feathers a few time... And could she make really good fried chicken... YUM!
So, on Thursday, I was thinking I had some of that roasted chicken in the freezer, how about some chicken noodle soup? Buzzed up to the Price Chopper for some celery and frozen egg noodles... Their Best Choice Egg Noodles are just as good as Reames, at a better price... And picked up a box of Best Choice Snackers Crackers to go along... Back at the ranch... got down my Electric Hot Pot and dumped in a frozen block of Sweet Sue chicken broth... about a quart... Then in with the chicken back and a couple wings and let that simmer a bit... Then took the skin off the chicken, shredded it up and then back in the pot with some diced onion and celery, a touch of oregano and basil and rosemary... simmer some more... and in with that package of noodles... And that's it... Nice bowl for s upper to end up another rather nice day... And a nice bowl of the Veggie soup for lunch today...
And BTW.. on the Lotto front... Bought a Bingo and Crossword and only won $3 on the Crossword.. Oh well, still ahead for the month...

~ And another Nice Email ~
~ From the Great Nephew of Newt Hatfield who Sold it to Me in 1969 ~
Well I bought 10 Honda Motorcycles from Newt Hatfield starting in 1965... Ending with the last one... a 1969 CB750 4 cylinder that now I hear is a Classic.. but I sold it to a friend in 1975... Oh Well... So then I got this great email that I want to share and it is also now on my Famous Guests page... To My Famous Guests page
"Love your website! My name is Chris Bauman and my family is the Hatfield's. I have been searching for information about Hatfield's Honda so I can create a website about the history. When I was a young I used to walk to the store and my great uncle Harold would give me free soda. I thought that place was so cool. Tim and Lucy Hatfield still run the place and sell guns. I love your pictures and what you had to say. Your registration was signed by my Grandfather Newt. I hadn't been born yet when you bought this bike but I know it was a good one cause my father bought one too.
Thanks for the walk down memory lane and God bless." Sincerely, Chris Bauman, Largo FL

~ Jim Reed ~ Roast and Toast ~ Part Two
~ Eighteen Years as Director ~
Well now, anyone ready for more of the same? Looks like a couple speakers there got a bit teared up... And didn't I mention yesterday that this long and boring epic was meant primarily for the Committee Members... who might actually enjoy it? Well... I got a COMPLAINT yesterday... that it was exceedingly tedious... and from WHO? I'll withhold the name to protect the GUILTY... Such a sour puss with such a short attention span... ACH! Das ist nicht sehr gut!...
And what else? Needed to run out for a Bingo and Crossword and the Post Office for a prepaid ship-anywhere box... Price looked too high to me so I passed... But I got a nice $3 winner on a Crossword and a $20 win on a bingo... HAH! Back to the ranch to find a nice box with padding inside.. Packed my Kodak DX7590 and back to the Post Office to pay about the same for the shipping and some insurance... Bueno! Then to work the new scratchers for a $20 Crossword win!... Now that's nice!
Actually had a nice return on scratchers the last 3 days... I won a $9, $9, $6. $3. $20, $3, and another $20.... For a total of $70.. cost me $45 so I am $25 ahead for the month.. Now where is that BIG one... Well I'll get a Missouri Lotto today, win a couple million... Then... Off to the Casino!

~ Eighteen Years as Director ~
Well, a good time was had by all.. But such long endless speeches... Well I guess not so long.. but so many... Everyone in the room had something to say... So this video is meant to be viewed by the Committee Members mostly, though my valued fans are welcome to wade through it...
And this one was so long... and since I can only load 1GB to Vimeo at a time... I had to split it in two parts... Part Two tomorrow... But I could get it all on one DVD in SD (Standard Definition) and that is good as many of the Committee Members will want a copy... Too big for a Blu-ray on a standard DVD so I had to make a Part one and Part Two Blu-ray... But it sure looks good...
So... What else is new? Finally got set to buy my new camera and ordered that today... Report on that in a week maybe.. the last order from US1 Photo got here quick... No tax.. No shipping... But the price slipped up a little from last week, but they say a free tripod and case and cleaning system included... whatever that is...
And guess who wants my nice little Kodak DX7590 I have been using... That will be in the mail today... I can take stills with my Video Camera so I can do without for a week...
Now off to the Post Office for one of those ship anywhere boxes, and then somewhere to trade in another winner lotto scratcher... Doing pretty good the last two days... Won a $9... $9... $6 and $3... But not ahead yet.. if ever...

~ And a Little More Snow ~
~ And Baby it's Cold Outside! 18 Degrees ~
So... Not much going on yesterday, was going to bake a cake but backed out, got all those cookies to finish up... Headed up to the Chopper to get a gallon of milk and a Bingo, Crossword and a Wheel of Fortune scratcher... Hah... $3 Bingo win... $6 Wheel win... Dud for the Crossword, well I broke even anyway... This morning if I can get up the hill, going to cash those in for a Bingo, Crossword and a Missouri Lotto... And what... Maybe get stuff for a pie or cake? How about a carrot cake.. or apple pie?
And... woke up last night to hear the little 4-Wheeler running up and down the street... Tom came out to salt the hill, guess we were getting some of the snow they promised... Yep, this morning I see about a half inch and that hill sure does look slick... NOT this picture, this was last year with snow only on the trees, but it's kinda pretty... We have more snow on the ground this morning...
And my IBM check is always in the Bank on the First... and they send it Friday when it can't get there sending on the 31st... So it will be in the bank today.. But the bank I am sending it to won't post til Monday... I know it's there but I can't use it.. I just changed that, the next one will go back to my Commerce bank, where it will Show up on Saturday... I am eager to get at it, as I plan to order my new Camera MONDAY! Hallelujah! After all this time wanting it...
~ So Off Now to Use Up a Long Cold Saturday ~
